AUGUST 1, 2002

Scott Peters, Gladbrook takes 3rd place at the Iowa State Trap Shoot on July 26.

Reinbeck classes to begin on August 22.

Craig Schellhorn and Leslie Blohm announce their upcoming marriage on Aug. 24 at the UCC Church in Reinbeck.

Michael Boldt & Andrea Markham will be married on Oct. 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Pastorino are parents of a daughter born July 21 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

LuLu Bowers, 88, died July 26 at her home.

John H. Bakker, 82, Grundy Center, died July 23 at the Cedar Valley Hospice house in Waterloo.


AUGUST, 1992

Everett Wyatt died Aug. 6 at Allen Hospital.

Patricia Clausen died Aug. 7 at her home.

Nancy Richards and Leroy Thiel were married on June 25 in Boone.

Mindy Diehm and Venice Smith both of Hudson announce their engagement.

Shelly Jensen & Bob Paulsen announce their approaching marriage.

Mr. & Mrs. Carl Cheeeman are parents of a daughter born July 27.


AUGUST, 1982

Helga & Larry Stirler have purchased Ruby Schmidt home at 308 Blackhawk.

Carl Cheeseman has purchased Bernice Emmert's home at 413 Broad St.

Alan Eckhoff has purchased the residence of Mrs. Royal Schelling on the Dike blacktop.

Funeral services for Helen Moore, 73, Grundy Center, were held on Aug. 17.

Jeannie Buchanan and David Ehrig were married Aug. 7.

Jim Sager, Reinbeck, hit a hole-in-one on #6 at Oakleaf Country Club.

Mr. & Mrs. Todd Draper are parents of a son born Aug. 15.


AUGUST, 1972

Mrs. J. Roger Ingols, Hudson, won $100 at the weekly bankroll at Ernie's Super Valu.

Kenneth Harms, 35, was found dead on Aug. 12 at the George Schildorth farm northeast of Reinbeck.

Geo Beenken, 87, Buckingham, died at St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Kroeger will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 27 at the Lincoln Amvet Hall.

Frank Sievers, 92, Gladbrook died of multiple injuries from an auto accident near Greene.

First sweet corn day was on Aug 17. Menu included sweet corn, hotdogs and free soft drink. This may become an annual event if well attended.

Jesse Lewis died Aug 13 in San Diego, Calif. He was the editor and publisher of the Reinbeck Courier from 1915 to 1919. He sold it to Emmet & Moser. In 1945 he sold the job printing department to Leroy Moser, Sr.

Mr, & Mrs. Wilbur Kielly are parents of a daughter.


AUGUST, 1952

Loretta Paton, 19, is seriously ill with polio.

Mr. & Mrs. Dean Newell are parents of a son born Aug. 5.

Rev. & Mrs. Elmon Ward are parents of a son born August 8.

Mr. & Mrs. John Lee Claussen are parents of a daughter born Aug. 9.


AUGUST, 1942

Mrs. Claus Storjohann, 67, died at her home on August 9.

Dickie Mulder was badly bitten by a pet dog at the Ray Dudolski farm east of Reinbeck.

Leila Miller & Charles Lovercheck of Ft. Wayne, Ind. will be married August 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Earl Wical, Grundy Center, are parents of boy/girl twins born on August 5.

John Weiler, farmer, 6 miles south of Reinbeck, purchased 300 head of mountain goats to clear a small tract of land.
