JULY 25, 2002

Alexa Krull, 7th grader in Reinbeck Elementary School, participated in the Iowa Games in Ames. At the Iowa Games she placed 1st and took home the Gold in the high jump and 400 meter dash.

Dennis Boldt scored the 3rd hole-in-one of his career on hole #4 at Oakleaf Country Club on July 13.

Lucille Snow will celebrate her 90th birthday on July 25.

Vicki Redix and Don Goebel announce their wedding for Sept. 28 at the UCC Church in Reinbek.

Pvt. Derick Haman graduated from basic training on March 28 at Fort Benning, Ga.

Michael J. Krull, 44, Grundy Center, died July 18 at the Grundy Center Hospital.

Wallace Norman, 88, Grundy Center died July 16 at the Grundy County Hospital.

Marjorie Tschirgi, 75, died July 21 at Hospice Care in Louisville, Colo.

Jeffrey Lenius receives the Iowa Grocers Educational Foundation Scholarship.


AUGUST 6, 1992

Dorothy Strohbehn, Reinbeck, received 2 round trip passes from American Eagle Airlines. She won the tickets in the HAVAA raffle.

Caroline Petersen, 69, died July 31 at the Grundy County Hospital.

George Johnson, 86, died July 31 at Ravenwood Care Center from complications of a stroke.

Ann Conradi, 89, Holland, died July 31 at the Grundy County Hospital.


AUGUST 12, 1982

Three Reinbeck juveniles were apprehended and charged with mischief in the 4th degree as a result of throwing rocks through windows of a door at the Reinbeck Elementary School on Aug. 8. Damage to the door was estimated at $88.

Lon Koch won the 16 yard Jr. Singles Championship at Iowa State Trap shoot and has qualified for Champion Shoot in Vandalia, Ohio on Aug 15-21.

Dennis Gould, Reinbeck, hits a hole-in-one on hole #9 at Oakleaf Country Club in Reinbeck.

Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Robinson will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house on August 22.

Viola Rickert, 89, Reinbeck, died Aug. 6 in the Hospice Unit at Schoitz Hospital.

Myron Walters, 36, Reinbeck, died Aug. 4 at Parkview Manor.


AUGUST 10, 1972

Ruby Palmer of Reinbeck won $1,000 at Ernie's Super Valu bankroll drawing.

Robert R. DeWolf, Reinbeck attorney, was elected to Lincoln Savings Bank Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by the death of Lester T. Bicket.

Three petitions were filed in Grundy Co. District Court by Marica Harrison for a total of $555,000 from Roger McIntyre of Morrison, resulting from an auto accident on Dec. 26, 1971.


AUGUST, 1962

Harry Birdsell, Hampton, won the invitational at Oakleaf Country Club with a score of 33-39-36.

Susie Miller submitted to the amputation of one of her feet.

Mrs. Roscoe Brown got her hand caught in the wringer of her washing machine, narrowly escaping losing her hand.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Barr lost their infant daughter born August 2 and died on August 3.

Verna Biebersheimer, 67, was buried on August 4.

Karen Dideo became the bride of James Olsen on August 4.


AUGUST, 1952

Edwin J "Buddy" Beckwith, 31, was buried August 7 at the Morrison Cemetery.

Hans Watson, Jr. collided with a tricycle ridden by Patty Whitcomb, daughter of Carol Whitcomb. Patty received a broken right leg and bruises.


AUGUST, 1942

Dave D. Lewis has taken over management of Tabat's 5 cents-$1.00 Store in Reinbeck.

After a cloudburst Holger Larsen found himself in 3 feet of water on his way home from Waterloo. He took off his pants and shoes and waded to dry pavement.
