Erma M. Lewis, 103, Reinbeck, passed away June 29 at Parkview Manor.

Jenni Sweet has been accepted to Cottey College in Nevada, Mo.

Mr. & Mrs. Jurgen Block are parents of a daughter born June 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Matt Boldt, Cedar Falls, are parents of a son born June 1.

117th Grundy Co. Fair opens with a free gate.

Russian Ambassadors visit in Reinbeck visiting the Courthouse in Grundy Center, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Farmers Cooperative and several other points of interest.

Open house is being planned to honor K.D. Bicket on July 24 on his retirement from Lincoln Savings Bank.

Elmer Lorenzen of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. will celebrate his 90th birthday on July 25.

Amy Johannsen and Patrick White make plans for Sept. 12 wedding at Peace Church in Gladbrook.

Mr. & Mrs. Steve Anderson, rural Beaman are parents of a daughter born July 7 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

John Graves died July 8 at the Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital.

Fannie Bruns died July 9 at the Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital in the long term care unit.

Elsie Mastain, Hudson, won $400 at bankroll drawing at Ernie's Super Valu.

Michael Ruth, 16, Wellsburg died July 16 at University of Iowa Hospital after being injured in a 2 vehicle collision in Wellsburg.

Members of Action Post & Reinbeck Jayce-ettes are sponsoring a Neighbor hood Watch program in cooperation with the Reinbeck Police Dept.

Gladbrook's 60th annual corn Carnival opens July 22 sponsored by the Gladbrook Commercial Club.

Mary Frier, Reinbeck, and D. Blake Butz, Waterloo, were united in marriage on July 10 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck.

John Hooper was transferred from Iowa City Hospital to Schoitz Hospital. He was seriously injured in a car/motorcycle accident in Iowa City.

Herman Beier, 91, Reinbeck, died at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown on July 10.

Lester T. Bicket, 78, Reinbeck, died July 15 at his home. He was president of Lincoln Savings Bank since 1934 retiring on Jan. 14, 1972.

Grundy Co. Board of Supervisors appointed Mike Rickert to serve a 5 year term on the Grundy Co. Conservation Board.

Oak Hill Apartments has been sold to Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Tweet of Waterloo for $28,500.

Dan Gurnett, a physics professor at University of Iowa was forced to land his sailplane on the Dave Neil, Jr. farm one mile east of Reinbeck.

Russell "Buzz' Burdick furnished pictures of a partial eclipse of the sun that he took.

Brad Brandt accepted the position of band & vocal music instructor in Frost, Minn.

Ted Schultz, 30, Gladbrook, lost his left arm in a hay chopper last week.

Mr. & Mrs Merle Jans are parents of a son born July 11.

Mr. & Mrs. Lyman Juhl are parents of a daughter born July 12.

Pvt. & Mrs. Allan Brandt are parents of a son born July 14.

John Dew, 73, Morrison, fell 10 ft. from a load of hay and escaped serious injury.
