United Church of Christ will be doing some extensive remodeling of their church this summer before the 125th anniversary.

Covenant Health System to close the Reinbeck Pharmacy later this summer.

Carol Graveman is "employee of the month" at Parkview where she has been employed for 24 years.

Maggie Garaventa and Justin Boege were married May 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Marcella Koster, 90, died June 3 at Grandview Heights Care Center in Marshalltown.

Carl J. Palmer, 83, Grundy Center, died June 9 at the Grundy Care Center.

Henry Willert, 85, Reinbeck, received state-wide recognition for having the 2nd highest number of years and months with a fire dept. in the state of Iowa.

JUNE 18, 1992

Raymond & Robert Dufel restored a 2 cylinder tractor. They hope to restore 2 tractors every winter.

William Mooty, 86, died June 16. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

George Eilers, 62, died June 16. Services were held at Grace Lutheran in Waterloo.

Mr. & Mrs. Ken Strohbehn were presented with the Master Farmer Award by Wallace Farmer Magazine on June 10.

Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Hamer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Taylor will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 28 with a morning mass at St, Mary's Church in Iowa City.

Mr. & Mrs. Harold Lawson recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Thede have purchased the Harry Albert home at 305 Blackhawk for a reported price of $46,500.

Steve Shapiro, Reinbeck, sang 2 numbers in the Blackwood Brothers Talent Contest at Waterloo Conway Civic Center and was awarded first place in the vocal division.

Mike Schick, 51, Reinbeck, narrowly escaped fatal injuries in a 24 ft. fall from a construction platform at a new building project at Pioneer Hi-Bred plant.

Mr. & Mrs. Emery Shutters, Reinbeck, are parents of a daughter born June 27.

Mr. & Mrs. Don Albert of Ottumwa, are parents of a son born June 29.

Mr. & Mrs. Dave Patrow, Durand, WI. are parents of a son.

Eleanor Linder, 65, died June 23 of an apparent heart attack. Services were held on June 26 at the UCC Church.

Reinbeck's 4th tavern, 405 Lounge, will open on July 1 owned by Dean Thede and Roger Harms.

Judith Lynch and James Freed were married on June 23 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Hazel Robinson reeled in a 11 lb. northern pike while on a fishing trip to Canada.

Janet Beenken and Kevin McKenna were married June 17 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer.

Mr. & Mrs. Leland Roberts will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on June 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Rick Swaney are parents of a son born June 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Jesse are parents of a son born June 24.

JUNE, 1962

Roy Schmoranc, who joined the Navy in 1940, retired with rank of Lt. CDR. Sharon K. Stohr, graduated from Pitze's School of Beauty and has leased the shop and equipment of Gleva's House of Beauty and will hold an open house on June 30.

Firemen were called to the Henry Gladden farm to extinguish a tractor fire.

Wayne Barfels, 22, has been selected to serve with the Peace Corps in Ecuador, South America.

Mr. & Mrs. Ray Goebel are parents of twin boys born June 22.

Karen Didio became engaged to James Olsen of Waterloo.

Mrs. Fred Ebaugh, 76, sister of Cloy Frey, died June 3 in a Waterloo Hospital.

JUNE, 1952

Rev. C.W. Hickman, was ordained to the gospel ministry as a ministeral

evangelist by a commission of the Cedar Rapids Presbytery of the United Presbyterian Church. Rev. Elmond Ward will begin his ministry as pastor of the United Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck.

School census shows 278 children from 1-5 in the district.

Mr. & Mrs. John Morrow are parents of a son born June 25.

Mr. & Mrs. Willis Arter are parents of a daughter born June 23.

Ann R. Morrison became the bride of Don Billerbeck on June 29.

Tobias DeVries estate of 160 acres was sold to Henry Ramsey for $362.50 an acre.

Delef Wrage, 79, Lincoln, died of a stroke at his home on June 23.

70 YEARS AGO

JUNE, 1942

Mr. & Mrs. E.M. Mitchell will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29.

Attorney Roger DeWolf a member of the law firm of DeWolf & DeWolf firm Reinbeck will also be a member of the firm of Rogers & Ruppelt in Grundy Center while Ruppelt serves in the Army. DeWolf will also assume the duties of the Grundy Co., Abstract Co. during Ruppelts absence.

Ada Jacobs became the bride of Cecil K. Robinson on June 20.
