News from the Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H

June 10, 2012
Black Hawk Nighthawk reporters Sadie Brockett and Audrey Leyen , Reinbeck Courier

The Black Hawk Nighthawks met on March 4th. The roll call was to say your name and what you plan to do on spring break. We were reminded about the service project to collect items with the scouts for the food pantry. Record-keeping awards were handed out. We also discussed Share the Fun and the Club contests for the Grundy County Fair. The Grundy County Fair will be July 23rd 28th. Fair books will not be printed, but can be found on-line.

Kelsey Martin gave a presentation about 4-H history. We had a guest speaker, Becky Schildroth, who spoke to us about genealogy. She gave us family trees that we could fill it out.

The club had an outing to the Hartman Reserve as a club on March 18th.

On April 29th, the club met at the UCC church to wrap up the collection for the food pantry. A representative from the food pantry was on hand to tell us about the food pantry and answer our questions. The roll call for the April meeting was say your name and the favorite thing you did this spring. Everyone was reminded to turn in the money/books from the Younker's Day event. Our club had 3rd place for sales for the County 4-H Omelet Breakfast and so we won $50 for the club to be used for an activity/trip. We discussed ideas for the picture board for the County Fair club contest; several good ideas were offered and we will decide on one at the next meeting. We also discussed a skit idea for the club Share the Fun activity for the fair.

The photography workshop originally scheduled for May has been moved to a later date in the fall. You can check 4-H online for summer camp opportunities.

There will be no meeting in May, so the next meeting will be on June 10th.
