Plan to attend the Grundy County Lake Park User Appreciation Event on June 8, 9 &10, 2012 at the Grundy County Lake and Campground.
Beginning 6 PM on Friday evening, June 8, there will be a nature walk led by conservation board staff. The walk is free to the public and will originate at the campground shower building. Participants are urged to wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the great outdoors.
On Saturday, June 9 from 6 AM to 2 PM, will be the Annual Fishing Derby sponsored by Peoples Savings Bank. Prizes are awarded for the largest fish in each of three categories bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. There will also door prizes galore. The event this year is sponsored by Peoples Savings Bank.
At noon, there will be free hotdogs from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM for as long as they last. This will take place at the registration area, as well.
And Saturday afternoon near the campground will be the rubber duck race. There will be a Kid's Division and a Campers Division. Starting on Friday evening, registered campers will be issued one free duck pass per campsite. The campers race will only be for registered campers. Campers must be registered by 3 PM on the day of the race to be eligible to participate. Registered campers will be able to purchase additional ducks for the race. The Kid's Race is open to all youth. Registration for the youth event will take place at the bike trail creek crossing where the race will finish. Winner of the Camper Division receives a 24-inch Flat Screen Television and the Kids Division winner receives a youth bike. Prizes have been donated by State Bank and Trust.
And finally, to complete the weekend event, Crawdaddy Outdoors from Waverly will conduct a kayaking demonstration at the lake. Representatives from Crawdaddy Outdoors will have various models available to try out during that event. The demonstration will take place Sunday from 1 to 3 PM at the boat ramp area.
