April was a fun and busy month. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2 p.m. it is almost always exercises and what a dedicated bunch we have for this. Tuesday at 2 p.m. we play cards, so if you like playing cards you are always welcome.
On Wednesday the 4th and Thursday the 5th we filled Easter eggs for the town Easter egg hunt held at the park. On Thursday after school some of the Girls Scouts came to help us. It's fun to have them.
At 1:30 p.m. on the 5th the UCC Church Circle met in our activity room.
The Iowa Hospice came on the 6th at 2:30 for a caregivers support group meeting. There was a good turn out for this and anyone from the community is invited to attend. It will be held at 2:30 p.m. on the first Friday of the month.
Several people got to spend Easter with their families.
Marrietta Greve celebrated her 96th birthday at 9:00 a.m. on the 9th with rolls for everyone at coffee break. Ray Lockhart celebrated his birthday on the 10th with his family.
Pastor Love, Pastor Campbell and Pastor Plocher came on the 11th for worship and communion service for everyone. It was very nice.
Our favorite game of bingo was played on the 12th and 19th. For our Night Out On The Town on the 13th we had a few people say they would like to check out the new Chinese restaurant in Grundy Center called the Tasty House. We thought maybe we would only have about five or six people sign up to go, but were we in for a surprise, we had eighteen go. Good food and lots of people eating Chinese for the first time and lots of take home containers. It was really a fun time especially reading the fortune cookies. We will have to do this again sometime.
Janet Schildroth came for our Bible study on the 16th. This is always very interesting. Dennis Perry came to entertain us with his singing and guitar playing on the 18th. We enjoyed this. He came at 3:30 p.m. so the 4 p.m. Book Club was held in the activity room. Charlene Manlick is still keeping our nails beautiful.
Sugar and Spice came at 4 p.m. on the 23rd to entertain us. It was a fun time. Later we served everyone vegetable soup and jello cake.
Guess what we were partying again on the 26th? We hosted an appreciation salad supper for the ladies that volunteer at Westview and for the ladies that live there. Some brought a guest after eating. Connie Dinsdale showed us a lot of her dolls that she makes. They really look like real babies. You would have thought you were at a day care when everyone was holding some of her dolls. Some of the guests brought their dolls and shared the story about them. Everyone enjoyed hearing how she makes them. We appreciate Connie for doing this and also our great volunteers that are always ready to pitch in when we need them. You are the best.
Just want you to know that we have so much fun at Westview that even the fish jump out of the aquarium. Just ask Connie. I see by the May calendar we will have lots of birthday parties coming up, plus lots of other fun things. Take care.
