APRIL 25, 2002

Sue Hayek, head camp counselor will retire on May 4 from the 4th grade camp and also from Reinbeck Elementary at the end of the school year.

G-R students volunteer their time in a service learning day on April 17. The goal was for students to engage in service learning to develop social and personal skills necessary to make positive contributions to the community.

Mr. & Mrs. David Isenhower of Dysart are parents of a son born April 13.

Mr. & Mrs. Rhett Schildorth of Muscatine are parents of a daughter born April 14.

Joseph Glesener has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas.

Toni Bender and Mark Olson announce their engagement and upcoming marriage in May.

William L. Adams, 3, Reinbeck, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Adams, died April 16 at Covenant Medical Center.

Raymond Kreman, 63, died April 14 at the Oakridge Nursing Home in Plattsburg.

Mr. & Mrs. Art Koht, Reinbeck, announce engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Debra to Brad Greiner, son of Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Greiner.

Juilet Meyer, 101, died May 3 at the Grundy Care Center.

Funeral services for Lillian Easley of Gladbrook were held on May 6.

Forty-six seniors to graduate on May 23.

Reinbeck girls track team are district champs.

Cindy Wulf, Cedar Falls, and Mike Paige, Reinbeck, announce their upcoming marriage on June 26 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson.

Mr. & Mrs. Bill Keller of Parkersburg are parents of a son born May 8.

MAY 11, 1972

Mr. & Mrs. Dwayne Clapp are parents of a son born May 8.

Dick Keith, son Mr. & Mrs. Jim Keith and Craig Volkens, son of Mr. & Mrs. Virgil Volkens were selected by Reinbeck's Action Post to represent Reinbeck at Hawkeye Boys State in Des Moines June 3-9.

Henry Clausen, 74, rural Traer, died on May 4 at his home.

50 YEARS AGO

MAY, 1962

Reinbeck's largest elm tree in front of the J.W. Hepperle home was cut down. The trunk measured 18 ft. 6" in circumference and 8 ft. 4" in diameter.

Grundy Center to build 2 plane hangers at the airport west of Grundy Center on Hwy #14.

Emma Bern, 95, long time resident of Lincoln died May 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Conrad are parents of a son born May 5.

Mr. & Mrs. Willys Benson are parents of a son born May 3.

Julie Plaehn and Vern Knaack were married on May 5.

Judy Gleason to be installed as Worthy Advisor of Assembly #100 of the order of Rainbow Girls in Reinbeck.

Alice Webrand, 88, Dike, died May 5.
