Rebels defeat the

Redhawks on their home course

On Monday, April 9th, the Rebel golfers headed to Traer to take on the Redhawks for a dual meet. North Tama is a state qualifier from last year so the Rebels knew they had their work cut out for them. G-R rose to the occasion and won the meet despite a very breezy day. The Rebels shot a season low 159 to the Redhawks 185. Brady Billerbeck was medalist with a one over par 36. Jacob Smoldt was runner up with a 38, followed by Kevin Trobaugh's 39. Rounding out the scoring for the Rebels was Cobren Bird with a 46. This gave our team some confidence knowing they defeated a state qualifier from the 2011 season and the Rebels hope to continue playing well in adverse conditions. The girls had a bright note with Callie Kuehl receiving medalist honors with a personal best of 51.

Golfers head to

Parkersburg to take on the Falcons

The Rebels had a quick turnaround and headed to Parkersburg on April 10 to take on A-P. The Rebels won the meet 167-176. Kevin Trobaugh shot an outstanding one under par 35 and was the medalist. Jacob Smoldt was runner up with a 41 for the Rebels. Rounding out the scoring for the team was Cobren Bird 45, Brady Billerbeck 46, and Parker Bolt 46. The kids did a great job in the wind and will get a chance to play in the A-P Invite in a couple weeks. A nice surprise this year is the play of Cobren Bird. Every week Cobren seems to get better and more confidence in his game. He is really stepping up for the varsity and is becoming very consistent.

3 meets in one week = 3 wins for Rebels

The Rebel golfers finished their week with the Union Knights coming to Oak Leaf. The Knights were team that lost some seniors from last year and are looking for some consistency. The Rebels won the match 161-193. Leading the way for the Rebels was Kevin Trobaugh with a 37. This is a great round to follow his -1 under performance two days previous. Runner-up to Kevin was Brady Billerbeck with a 38. Jacob Smoldt shot an excellent round of 39. Parker Bolt finished out the top 4 with a 47. We are still looking for our fourth score to be in the mid to low 40's if the Rebels want to reach their goals.

On the girls side of things, Callie Kuehl shot a 62, Rebecca Franksain shot personal best of 67, and Kayla Gutknecht finished with a 78. These girls continue to gain experience and confidence in their game every week. Keep working hard girls!

Rebels on a roll!

April 17th was a great day to play golf at Oak Leaf. It was a nice 60 degree day with a slight breeze. The Rebels welcomed Dike-New Hartford and Wapsie Valley to the course. G-R defeated DNH and Wapsie Valley by shooting a 164. Dike-New Hartford shot 184 while Wapsie Valley shot a 179. There was a three -way tie for medalist so the golfers played it off in a sudden death playoff. Kevin Trobaugh, Jacob Smoldt and Zach Edwards all shot a 39. After the first playoff hole the only two left were Kevin and Jacob. So they headed to #5, the number one handicap hole. Kevin won the playoff on this hole leaving Smoldt to be the runner-up. Finishing out the scoring for the Rebels was Parker Bolt with a season low of 42 and Brady Billerbeck with a 44. The Rebels are averaging a team score of 164, which is very good. The Rebels have improved to 7-1 on the year and will play in the Spartan Invite on April 21st.
