GCMH & volunteers

April 22, 2012
Reinbeck Courier

What makes a rural hospital successful? Healthcare providers at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital could give you a very long list, but one group, the hospital volunteers, occupies a very special place on their list.

Volunteers staff the GCMH Welcome Desks and the East J Caf five days a week. Volunteers help with Long Term Care activities, assist in physical therapy, fill hospital vending machines, and make popcorn for residents and associates every Friday. The Hospital Board of Commissioners, GCMH Foundation Board, and countless hospital committees are composed of dedicated volunteers. Volunteers come from all over the hospital's four-county market area, representing Conrad, Dike, Eldora, Gladbrook, Grundy Center, Holland, Parkersburg, Reinbeck, Steamboat Rock and Wellsburg.

"Our volunteers are an amazingly talented and dedicated group of people," says Erin Schildroth who coordinates the hospital volunteers. "They are so willing to give of their time to help the hospital and the community. We are so grateful for the lasting and positive impact that our volunteers are making at the hospital."
