At their meeting, the Grundy County Board of Supervisors proclaimed April 2012 as parkinson's disease awareness month. The following proclamation was adopted:
WHEREAS, parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system, affecting more than one million people in the United States; and
AND WHEREAS, the American Parkinson's Disease Association, Inc., founded in 1961, has sought to ease the burden and find the cure for this disease through research, patient and family services, and education; and
AND WHEREAS, the world, the nation, and the State of Iowa observe parkinson's disease awareness month in April 2012; and
AND WHEREAS, the State of Iowa recognizes the efforts of the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson's Disease Association to raise funds and promote awareness to fight parkinson's disease, thereby improving the quality of life for those living with the disease.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Grundy County Board of Supervisors, in the State of Iowa, does hereby proclaim on this the 16th day of April, 2012, that the month of April 2012 shall be observed as parkinson's disease awareness month.
