G-R students present Footloose on April 20 & April 22.

G-R Athletic Banquet honors youth and volunteers on April 13. Randy Beichley & Madonna Wilson were honored for "Volunteers of the Year" award.

First pool fundraiser nets $11,000 on April 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Virgil Volkens will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in late spring. They were married April 24, 1952.

Raymond Thede, 86, Reinbeck, died April 12 at Parkview Manor.

Dena Harms, 97, Wellsburg, died April 11 at the Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington.

Edward Dolezal, 80, Toledo, died April 15 at the Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehab Center.

U.S. Achievement Academy announced Tyler Schildroth has been named a national award winner in band.

Hudson Pharmacy will close on April 28.

Eric Gorres & Jess Moye were awarded the Verlyn Rysdam Award and Jordon Schick received the outstanding wrestler award.

Ash Larsen is a member of the Wartburg College baseball team. He is a pitcher for the team.

APRIL 30, 1992

Andrew Bouska, Reinbeck, was awarded the Frank Miller Scholarship.

Cedar Falls police continue to investigate several thousand dollars worth of damage done to the heavy machinery being used by PCI construction crew on new Hwy #58.

Twelve members of the Grundy Co. Izaak Walton League planted some 400 small trees near Mosquito Creek on Mark Thesing's farm.

Winner of the $50 Savings Bond sponsored by the Women of Today contest was 14 month old Matthew Thesing, son of Mark & Angie Thesing.

Joy Hamer will present a senior recital on Sunday, May 10 at the Hearst Center in Cedar Falls. She is a senior at G-R High School.

MAY 6, 1982

City Clerk Carol Bown installed Bruce Bailey as a member of the Reinbeck City Council. Bailey is serving out Larry Gauger's term.

Beth Badder, Santa Ana, Calif. & Keith Sindt, Reinbeck, were married March 27, Mrs. Sindt is a teacher at Hawkeye Tech and Mr. Sindt is a teacher at Reinbeck High School.

Mr. & Mrs. Dana Linder announce the adoption of a son born April 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Dan Sells are parents of a son born April 26.

Dr. & Mrs. Tom Beller of Kansas City are parents of a daughter born April 30.

Mr. & Mrs. James Siemens, Marshalltown, are parents of a daughter born April 30.

Services were held for Raymond Bonacker, 83, Reinbeck on May 2 at the United Methodist Church. Ray & Martha operated the grocery store for 30+ years.

Graveside services for Donna Hall were held May 8.

Freida Larsen will hold a household sale on May 6.

Fred Keller, 73, Reinbeck, died suddenly at his home of a heart attack on May 2.

Charles Belling, 70, Dike, died May 2 at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls.

Wm. Craig, 83, Reinbeck, died April 27 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Mr. & Mrs. Gene Barker are parents of a daughter born April 28.

Mr. & Mrs. W.R, Weaverling are parents of a son born May 1.

MAY, 1962

William Ramundt's 160 acres north of Reinbeck was sold to Don & Mark Schildroth for $375 an acre.

Toby Larsen, Sr., 88, died May 1 in Des Moines where he had been living.

Rev. E. Hawbaker, pastor of First Baptist Church resigned April 29.

Bill Ballard, Reinbeck, announces the opening of his new Ballard Shoe Store at the Tama County Home.

Paul Trinkle, 35, Gladbrook, died of a heart attack on April 28.

Reinbeck will soon have a new drive-in. Noel Lorenz is erecting a building on the lots he purchased from the Cramer Estate on the north side of Hwy 175. Betty Cheeseman will manage the drive-in.

Mr. & Mrs. Herb Beckwith are parents of a son born April 24.

Mr. & Mrs. James Sager are parents of a daughter born April 23.

Mr. & Mrs. James Juhl are parents of a son born April 25.

60 YEARS AGO

MARCH, 1952

Rev. Schliepsick & family at St. John's Lutheran Church will bid farewell to the congregation on May 4. They are moving to Des Moines.

Reinbeck Fire Dept. was summoned to the James Paton farm when the machine shed caught fire from burning a rubbish pile.

Plans have been started to erect a Reinbeck Memorial Bldg. but funds are $12,000 short to build a building.

Myrtle Hopkins, 30, was killed instantly in a car collision that occurred 1 1/2 miles north of Noe's Midway Station.

Mr. & Mrs. Danny Nash are parents of a daughter born April 26.

70 YEARS AGO

MAY, 1942

Mary, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. V.D. Webrand, has been out of school because of Bell's Palsy which has paralyzed the right side of her face.

109 will take 8th grade final exams in Grundy Co. rural schools.

Ben Fletcher, former Dike banker, is paroled and is working in Burlington.
