Auditor of State David A. Vaudt released Grundy County audit report

The County had local tax revenue of $20,010.774 for the year ended June 30, 2011, which included $835,285 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $14,977,485 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.

The County retained $5,033.289 of the local tax revenue to finance County operations, a 1.1 % increase over the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $1,211.884, operating grants, contributions and restricted interest of $4,201.150, capital grants, contributions and restricted interest of $971, 611, local option sales tax of $398,479, unrestricted investment earnings of $85,285 and other general revenues of $67,059.

Expenses for County operations totaled $11,676,324, a 2.5% decrease from the prior year. Expenses included $4,933.728 for roads and transportation, $1,648,056 for administration and $1,600,672 for public safety and legal services. The decrease in expenses is primarily due to a decrease in the roads and transportation function for projects.
