Auditor of State David A. Vaudt released Grundy County audit report

April 8, 2012
Reinbeck Courier

The County had local tax revenue of $20,010.774 for the year ended June 30, 2011, which included $835,285 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $14,977,485 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.

The County retained $5,033.289 of the local tax revenue to finance County operations, a 1.1 % increase over the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $1,211.884, operating grants, contributions and restricted interest of $4,201.150, capital grants, contributions and restricted interest of $971, 611, local option sales tax of $398,479, unrestricted investment earnings of $85,285 and other general revenues of $67,059.

Expenses for County operations totaled $11,676,324, a 2.5% decrease from the prior year. Expenses included $4,933.728 for roads and transportation, $1,648,056 for administration and $1,600,672 for public safety and legal services. The decrease in expenses is primarily due to a decrease in the roads and transportation function for projects.

A copy of the audit report is available for review in the County Auditor's Office, in the Office of Auditor of State and on the Auditor of State's web site at auditor.iowa.gov/reports//1110-0038-BOOF.pdf.
