Screening Kits Available March 21-22 at Peoples Community Health Clinic

Area health care organizations, including Allen Hospital, Black Hawk County Health Department, Peoples Community Health Clinic, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Covenant Clinic Gastroenterologists Dr. Mujica and Dr. Quander, and the American Cancer Society are collaborating to offer free colon cancer screening kits to people ages 50-65 on Wednesday and Thursday, March 21 and 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This effort is taking place in March during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. People age 50-65 who may not have insurance or are inadequately insured are encouraged to pick up a free screening kit during the event at Peoples Community Health Clinic, 905 Franklin Street in Waterloo during the two-day event. All kits will need to be returned to Peoples Health Clinic no later than April 4.

Those with limited or no insurance who meet specific criteria may be eligible for assistance should any issues arise from the test. For more information, call Nancy McHone, Covenant Cancer Treatment Center at 319-272-2841 or Becky Dumler, Allen Hospital at 319-235-3823.
