World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer annually on the first Friday in March. Each year a different country serves as the writer of the World Day of Prayer worship service. For 2012 the WDP Committee of Malaysia developed the theme "Let Justice Prevail!" A clear message emerges: It takes courage, compassion and active engagement for justice to prevail. They ask us to work with God and with each other to create a world in which each gender, race, culture, religion and state is honored, nurtured and empowered. The Bible readings and hymns speak to peace, patience, persistence and prayer that are necessary for justice to prevail.
Through the WDP offering, women share their resources with women and children around the world. In making their offerings, women make their personal connection between prayer and action.
Invite your friends, family and communities of faith to join the women of Malaysia in prayer and song to support women's ecumenical ministries toward justice, peace, healing and wholeness.
World Day of Prayer will be celebrated in Reinbeck on Friday, March 2, at the Reinbeck First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Six churches in Reinbeck will participate in this meaningful worship service.
