On February 24th-25th a group of students from Gladbrook-Reinbeck will be participating in World Visions "30 Hour Famine." The students will join the efforts of hundreds of thousands of young people all over the nation who will set aside the usual "stuff" that fills their daily lives and instead will go without food to get a taste of what the world's poorest children and families face every day. Students have been raising funds but are still in need of support. For every $30 raised they can help feed and care for a child for one month. They are asking for your donations to help them meet their goal of $3600 which will feed and care for ten (10) children for a full year! In addition they are holding a food drive to assist those in need within the local community.
On Saturday February 25th place non-perishable food items in a bag on your front porch, the kids will be collecting them from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. for the local community food bank.
The Famine is being held at the First Presbyterian Church on Broad street in Reinbeck from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday. Stop by and see what the youth are doing during the event and if you like make a donation.
