Paige Thompson, senior at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School, and daughter of Brian and Susan Thompson of Gladbrook has signed a letter of intent on Monday, January 16 to join the NIACC (North Iowa Area Community College) softball program.
Paige started her school softball career in 2008, as an 8th grader, she was a varsity starter and letter winner at shortstop. In 2009 as a freshman she was a varsity starter and letter winner, also NICL West Honorable Mention at shortstop. As a sophomore she was starter and letter winner, NICL West First Team All-Conference Utility; Times-Republican all-area team honorable mention at shortstop; and 2A All-State Honorable Mention. Her junior year she was starter and letter winner; NICL West First Team All-Conference Utility; Times-Republican All-Area Pitcher; 2A North Central All-District team (pitcher); 2A All-State Honorable Mention. Paige's stats include .446 BA, .954 F%, 191 K, and 1.43 ERA. Throughout middle school and high school Paige has also participated in track, cross country, volleyball, and now in basketball as a point guard, known as "The General," and in charge of running "The System." Paige was part of the team when they set a national scoring record for combined points in a game on February 7, 2011, in a game against West Marshall with G-R winning 122-118. Paige maintains a 3.961 GPA.
Tyler Sisco, head coach for the NIACC Trojans commented, "We are thrilled to having someone as talented as Paige joining our softball team next year.. She brings a wealth of skills to our team both on and off the field. We always love to have student-athletes that are committed to be the best they can be and Paige is a prime example of such a person."
