Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Arends of Keilen, Texas are parents of a daughter born Jan. 2, 2002.

George Backhoff, 74, Wellsburg died Dec. 23 at Allen Hospital.

Chris E. Christians, 85, Wellsburg, died Jan. 4, 2002 at the Ackley Presbyterian Village.

Earl Claussen, 89, Gladbrook, died Dec. 24 at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home.

Dorothy Dirks, 78, Reinbeck, passed away Jan. 6 at Covenant Medical Center.

Norma M. Segebarth, 91, Reinbeck, formerly of Plainfield, passed away Jan. 1, 2002 at Parkview Manor Nursing Home.

Ralph E. McDaniel, 46, Parkersburg died Dec. 24 at Covenant Medical Center from complication of cancer.

Katie Giesking, 89, Grundy Center, died Jan. 7 at the Ackley Presbyterian Village.

Viola A. Shield, 89, Reinbeck, died Dec. 31 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.

Elsie Kessler, 90, Grundy Center, died Dec. 29 at the Grundy Care Center.

Elmer Lage retires from Central Counties Coop in Lincoln on Dec. 28 after 32 years of service.

Kyleah Dugan, 4, Reinbeck, donates 13 inches of her hair to Locks of Love.

Marion Robertson, Reinbeck, receives national recognition for outstanding performance in reading education Renaissance Learning.

Melanie Redeen and David Larson were married on Aug. 11 in St. Paul, Minn.

Funeral services for Bruce Brockway, 69, Grundy Center, were held Jan. 21.

Funeral services for Richard Hanisch, 90, Gladbrook, were held Jan. 15. Mr. Hanisch died at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook.
