Sue Hayek, 4th grade teacher, is ISEA Excellence in Education finalist.

Josie Nichols and Bryce Lemke exchange marriage vows on Aug. 25 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hubbard.

Holger Jensen, 83, formerly of Dike, died Oct. 22 at the Cedar Valley Dialysis Center in Waterloo.

Roger Peters, 82, Grundy Center, died Oct. 25 at Allen Hospital.

Todd Davis, son of Mr. & Mrs. Joe Davis is named an All-American Scholar.

Cedar Valley Hospice Tree of Life announces Dorothy Bakker as honorary chairperson.


NOV. 28, 1991

Services for John R. Mitchell, 80, Reinbeck, were held on Nov. 25 at French-Hand Funeral Home.

Services for Mrs. Robert (Connie) Bicket, 68, Reinbeck, will be held on Nov. 27 at the United Church of Christ.

Graveside services for Mrs. Avis Freed, 91, were held at the Conrad Cemetery on Nov. 27.


DEC. 3, 1981

Dr. & Mrs. Douglas Koele of Cedar Falls have purchased the Dennis Bern duplex at 105 Spruce for $68,000.

Mr. & Mrs. Lester Wieben of rural Reinbeck have purchased the Dorothy Martens home at 620 Pine for $37,000.

Mrs. Jack (Betty) Shoup, Reinbeck, Grand Organist of the Order of Eastern Star, will be honored at a reception hosted by the Coinette Chapter on Dec. 5.

Funeral services for Matthew Campbell, 22, Ankeny, formerly of Reinbeck, were held Nov. 28 at the United Methodist Church. Mr. Campbell was killed in a one car accident 4 1/2 miles east of Reinbeck Nov. 25th. Matt was enrolled in Faith Baptist Bible College at Ankeny, where he was preparing for work as a Missionary.

Funeral services for Anna Davis, 71, of New Sharon were held Nov. 27.

Mr. & Mrs. Mark Holley of Reinbeck, are parents of a daughter born Nov. 22. Maternal grandparents are Mr. & Mrs. Merle Albert of Reinbeck.

Mr. & Mrs. Curtis Storjohann are parents of a son, born Nov. 11.

Mr. & Mrs. George Beenken of Morrison will celebrate their wedding anniversary on Dec. 23.


NOV. 1971

Mary Murphy and Dana Linder exchanged marriage vows on Nov. 19 at the immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Alvin Petersen, 53, died at his home on Nov. 27.

Funeral services for Dr. E. Frode Lind, former Reinbeck resident, were held on Nov. 27 in Des Moines.

A.J. (Jack) Frampton, 44, Marshalltown, died at a Minneapolis hospital on Nov. 29.

Wilbur G. Byrnes, 86, died Nov. 23 at a Waterloo nursing home.

Lela Babb and John L. Sams exchanged marriage vows on Nov. 22 in Brownsburg, Ind.

Grundy Co. Board of Supervisors has given approval to a $3.00 fee being charged by Sheriff Bill Marten on one type of concealed weapon permit, even though there is no provision in state law for a fee.


DEC. 1961

Emil Runft has purchased a pair of white tailed deer to go with his collection of wildlife which is for sale. Runft paid $190 to Warren Farris of Toledo for the pair of deer.

Reinbeck Commercial Club will finish installing their all new Christmas decorations this week.

Mr. & Mrs. George Specht celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 12.

Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Cooper of Des Moines, are parents of a son born Nov. 27. Mrs. Cooper is the former Betty Rickert.

Mr. & Ms. Wayne Lear of Lincoln, are parents of a daughter born Nov. 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Russell Burdick of Waterloo are parents of a son born Nov. 23.

Me. & Mrs. Dale McIntyre are parents of a daughter born Nov. 24.


NOV. 1951

Ray Fletcher, 66, died on Nov. 23 of a heart attack.

Mrs. William Murphy, 94, passed away on Nov. 23 due to complications of age.

Robert Scharff, 4, died Nov. 22 of injuries received when hit by a truck driven by John Paton of Reinbeck.

Loyd Plaehn held open house Dec. 1 & 2, at his new housing addition in southeast Reinbeck.

Mr. & Mrs. John Cooper are parents of a daughter born Nov. 21.


DEC. 1941

Fred Shoemaker, 64, formerly of Reinbeck, died in Mason City on Nov. 24.

Emma Kaufman, 87, Morrison, fell and broke her hip.

Dora Gillespie, 85, passed away on Nov. 26 of old age.

Ernest Horstman, 62, died at his home on Nov. 26.

Doris Horstman, 92, died at her home in Scotland, S.D. on Nov. 11.

Gerald "Jiggs" Campbell held a closing-out farm sale on the Dan Campbell farm, on Dec. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Duane Jans have moved into the Mrs. John Bailey home.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Thomas of Traer, are parents of a daughter born Nov. 22.


DEC. 1931

Thomas Andersen and Mary Saunders were married on Dec. 2.

Town Council taking bids for night watchman during the winter months.

George Ehlers, 25, died Dec. 4, following surgery for appendectomy.

Mrs. Fritz Linder had her face badly burned when she fainted by a hot stove.

Frances Lemke, bookkeeper at the Reinbeck Creamery has resigned from her job this week.

Louie Petersen, truck driver for Petersen Produce, resigned from his job Saturday night.
