Carol A. Cooper, 54, Grundy Center, passed away Oct. 19 at her home.

Alvin Staker, 88, Reinbeck, died Oct. 18 at Covenant Medical Center.

Clarence "Swede" Bower, 82, Dike, died Oct. 18 at Sartori in Cedar Falls.

Herman VanHauen, 81, Grundy Center, died Oct. 16 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Nolan McCarthy, 7th grade student, wrote an essay on making a difference by being drug-free. Nolan's essay was chosen as one of the top 10 out of over 600 entries in the 7th grade division.


NOV. 21, 1991

City Council okays two-year garbage haul contract with Bruce Bailey and David Roberts for $40,800.

Pioneer Christmas Festival planned for Dec. 8th.

Randy Thompson, 74, Gladbrook, died Nov. 13.

Marcus J. Kole, 86, Dike, died Nov. 7 at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center.

Mildred Dufel, 77, Hudson, passed away on Nov. 18 at Allen Hospital.

Rupert Brubaker will celebrate his 90th birthday on Nov. 20.

Edna Morrow will celebrate her 80th birthday on Nov. 23 with an open house.

Mary Wieben celebrated her 96th birthday on Nov. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Kirk Dinsdale are parents of a son born Oct. 26.

Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Drawbond are parents of a son born Nov. 8.

Quentin Mussing, G-R school, is selected as member of 1991 All State Band.


NOV. 26, 1981

Reinbeck's Pioneer Hi-Bred seed corn plant will undergo extensive expansion during the next few months. Architect's drawings plan for the new buildings and additional systems were revealed.

Karen Wrage and James Bohnstengel were united in marriage on Nov. 7.

Ella Schmidt of Reinbeck will celebrate her 85th birthday on Nov. 29.

Reinbeck Ramettes opened up their season with a thrilling 86-81 victory over arch-rival Dike.

Hilda Buck household sale to be held on Nov. 28.

L.G. Jansen estate auction to be held on Nov. 28.

Reinbeck Community School will dismiss for the Thanksgiving vacation on Nov. 25 with classes resuming on Nov. 30th.


NOV. 25, 1971

Bolin's Flowers in Reinbeck is having a Christmas Open House on Saturday.

Bill's Barber Shop, Reinbeck's newest business on Main, will hold an open house on Monday, Nov. 29.

Margaret Buhrmann, 87, died at the Americana Nursing Home.

John Adelmund, Sr., 80, died at his home on Nov. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Carsten Lundt will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 5.

Mr. & Mrs. Dean Newell will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with family on Nov. 27th.

Mr. & Mrs. James Bolin are parents of a daughter born Nov. 18.

Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Barfels are parents of a son born Nov. 21.

Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Dunham, Jr. are parents of a daughter born Nov. 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Jim Jensen are parents of a son born Nov. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Willer are parents of a daughter born Nov. 19.

Reinbeck's Action Post American Legion will stage a "white elephant" auction on Nov. 27. All proceeds for this sale will be given to help pay final construction costs on the new restrooms at the athletic field.

Fire of undetermined origin resulted in some damage to feed stored in a 40-ft silo at the Charles Rohach farm. Reinbeck firemen soon had the fire under control.


NOV. 1961

Rail express has been discontinued in Holland, according to station agent Carl Schneider, Sr.

Norman Bower, 72, former Reinbeck barber, died in Marshalltown on Nov. 22.

Lee Lockhart, 44, Waterloo, formerly of Reinbeck, suffered a severe stroke on Nov. 20.

Mr. & Mrs. Leland Stewart of Rockford, Ill. are parents of a son born Nov. 2.

Mr. & Mrs. Randall Patterson are parents of a daughter born Nov. 14.

Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Webb are parents of a daughter born Nov. 7.

Mr. & Mrs. Carl Schick are parents of a son born Nov. 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Conradi are parents of a daughter born Nov. 15.

Mary Jo Dinnebier and Gordon Elbert exchanged marriage vows on Nov. 18.

Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Kuhl of Beaman are parents of a son born Nov. 13.

Mr. & Mrs. George Schmidt of Dike are parents of son born Nov. 18.


NOV. 1951

Mrs. Adolph Kolpek, 35, Grundy Center, died Nov. 21 of cancer.

Adolph Koch, 76, died at his home on Nov. 20.

Lloyd Smith and family will move to Dubuque on Dec. 1 where Lloyd will assume his new position as district manager for Equitable of Iowa.

John Masterson, 24, Des Moines, was found insane in the knifing of Theresa O'Connor of Reinbeck.

Good neighbors picked the crops for Harold Snow. Harold is unable to work as a result of a haying accident.

Janice Lynch and Dale Larsen, both of Gladbrook, were married Nov. 1.

Mr. & Mrs. Al Bixby, Hudson, are parents of a son born Nov. 18.


NOV. 1941

Arnold Pyle was getting gas from a barrel when a spark ignited and blew up the barrel and burned down his granary and hen house.

Mr. & Mrs. John Schlicht, turkey raisers, sold their turkey crop of over 1,750 birds.

Henry Ramsey had 6 stitches placed in his leg as a result of getting his leg caught in a combine.

Theresa Gersch and Roy Petersen were married on Nov. 16.

Harry Blohm fell while picking corn and fractured his right leg.

Dale Karr, 17, Traer, lost his left arm at the shoulder as a result of a car accident.

Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Moser are parents of a son born Nov. 14.

Mr. & Mrs. Ward French are parents of a son born Nov. 16.

Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Harris of Buckingham are parents of a son born Nov. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. John Philip of Dinsdale, nearly lost their home to a fire, but were able to save some of the buildings by a pressure water system.

W.J. and Warren Breakenride of Dinsdale are building a new machine shed.


NOV. 1931

Roger "Hip" Willert ranked as second high scorer man on the Iowa Teachers College football team.

Henry Schneckloth, 80, long time resident of Reinbeck. died Nov. 23.

Henry Buhman, 41, died from a blood clot in the lung following surgery on Nov 24.

Claus Plaehn, vice president of the closed Reinbeck State Bank, took his own life on Nov. 20.

A wind storm on Nov. 19 caused some damage on the Gus Treimer and Fred Schmidt farms north of town.
