A fund-raising benefit for Lee and Janet Scott of Holland, will be held Sunday, October 2, 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Grundy Community Center, Grundy Center, Iowa. A Soup-Off (free will donation) is being planned along with a Silent Auction (4:30 to 6:00) and a Live Auction (6:05). The event is being organized by Colfax Center Church.
Event chairperson Lori Willis explains, "While we can't begin to diminish the grief and emotional trauma Lee and Janet have suffered since April, 2009, we can help ease their financial burden."
The goals of this benefit will be:
to reduce Lee and Janet's overall debt accumulated as a consequence of the trials they have experienced the past two and one half years, and
to reduce the outstanding medical bills that have mounted up during that period, particularly when they were without insurance.
The Scott Family is well known by the surrounding community for the scholarships they have established in memory of their son Drew. Everyone is encouraged to mark their calendars and attend the benefit. For those unable to attend, monetary donations can be mailed or dropped off at Greenbelt Bank in Grundy Center.
