Rebels 2 - 2 in own tourney

REINBECK - The Gladbrook-Reinbeck volleyball team came away with a 2-2 showing at its own tournament on Saturday, sweeping NU High and North Butler but falling to a pair of ranked teams in Janesville and Dike-New Hartford.

The Rebels (8-4) took two sets from both NU High (21-14, 21-17) and North Butler (21-12, 21-17). Class 1A No. 14 Janesville turned away the Rebels in three, 21-13, 10-21, 15-13, while 2A No. 4 Dike-New Hartford prevailed 25-15, 25-12 in the opening round of bracketed play.

Dike-New Hartford defeated Janesville in the tournament finale.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck got a balanced attack with Emily Stoakes collecting 13 kills, Emily Dinsdale getting 12, Jenna Roeding 11 and Addi Kickbush 10.

Stoakes added 17 digs, 17 assists, five blocks and 15-of-15 serving with four aces. Dinsdale served 35-for-36 with seven aces, Kickbush was 25-for-26 serving, while Madi Corwin was 18-for-20 with seven aces.

Roeding posted a team-high seven blocks. Kickbush had a team-best 25 digs and Erin Wentzien added 24 for the G-R defense. Taylor Flamme totaled 24 assists while Shelton Hatch added seven assists and 28-for-29 serving.

AGWSR (5-9) also went 2-2 during the tournament, sweeping GMG and BCLUW but falling in two sets to both Janesville and Dike-New Hartford.

BCLUW (4-10) had a 1-3 showing, sweeping GMG to start the day by scores of 21-19, 21-14. The Comets then were defeated by AGWSR (21-12, 21-17), Dike-New Hartford (21-7, 21-10) and NU High (25-17, 25-19).

Danielle Montgomery totaled 15 kills and five aces to lead the Comets. Kendall Scurr added 11 kills and four blocks, Maddie Olson had 10 kills and Reeba Box chipped in eight. Setter Courtney Amundson racked up 41 assists while Libero player Abby Miller totaled 13 digs.
