Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) will be hosting a free CEU program for nurses and EMS staff titled "Neuro Medical/Trauma the Deadly Dozen on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the GCMH Education Room (enter at Door #3 on the west side of the hospital).
Kristeen L. Baerenwald, RN, PS will be the presenter. The purpose of the program is to increase the knowledge of nursing associates caring for patients with neurological, medical, or traumatic injuries. The objectives are:
Review the anatomy of the brain and the pathophysiology of a stroke and traumatic brain injury.
Discuss the various types of strokes and traumatic brain injuries.
Review the medical management of a patient whom has suffered a stroke, or has had a traumatic brain injury.
Review the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and the Glascow Coma Scale.
This program has been approved for 0.2 CEU's through Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center, Iowa Board of Nursing Provider No. 258. Participants must attend the entire session to receive credit. 2.0 CEH's from UIHC EMSLRC.
