The fall 2011 harvest season is upon us.
The Grundy County Farm Bureau wants to remind residents to be careful when in the field and on the roads. Each year, more than 2000 are killed and thousands more injured across our country in farm accidents.
In the next months, farmers will be harvesting thousands of acres of corn and soybeans in the county. Crops in Grundy County provide more than $45 million of personal income in the county. As more value is added to those crops, Iowa State University estimates an additional $202 million to the county's economy. Agriculture is the economic engine that drives our county!
Farmer, please be careful around equipment and in the fields. To our non-farmer friends, thanks for slowing down when approaching our slow moving vehicles.
Let's all have a safe harvest season!
Grundy County Farm Bureau President
