JV Rebel volleyball

September 17, 2011
Reinbeck Courier

The JV Rebels Volleyball Team has been practicing very hard for the last month. Our team consists of Taylor Weida, Taylor Flamme, Brooke Boyle, Ellie Stoakes, Sidney Dilly, Britt Keller, Mikayla Knaack, Madi Corwin and Jayde Price. Thursday of last week we finally got to play a real match against Wapsi Valley. I was pleased with a lot of the things I saw. We hustled well, talked on the court, and had some very nice blocks and hit coverage. However, due to service errors and passing errors, we came away on the losing end of the match. Scores were 21-25 and 19-25. Tuesday we traveled to East Marshall and had great difficulty putting together a solid performance. It just didn't seem to be our night. We came out flat and stayed that way till the end.

As a team we discussed our weaknesses and the things we need to improve on. Serving was at the top of everyones list along with passing, setting and transition for stronger approaches when hitting the ball. We have been practicing with great intensity and enthusiasm. We intend to put our new plan into action Thursday night against AGWSR. Come out to the gym and see all the action starting at 6. Until then, Go Rebels!

If you came out to see us last Thursday- thank you and we apologize for game two. Seems we lost our heads for a bit. If you stayed to watch game three, again, thank you, and as you saw, we played much better and came away with our first win 25- 15. AGWSR won the match as they took the first two games. Our serving was much improved and if you erase game two from your memory as we did from ours, our passing was much improved also. Although we our happy to get our first game win, we know we have many things to improve on. We will continue to do the things in practice that need to be done in order to get better each and every match. Keep working hard girls!
