Covenant Cancer Treatment Center will host a 2011 Health Conference for cancer survivors, their caregivers and family members on Thursday, October 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Covenant Medical Center in Classrooms 1 and 2 (at the hospital, near the chapel).
Survivorship: Life After Cancer Treatment will focus on the transition from active treatment to their new "normal" and answer questions about "what do I do now?" Many times survivors have questions and concerns that don't come up during treatment, but come to mind after treatment.
"More and more people are surviving cancer due to advancements in treatments and technology," said Nancy McHone, cancer program coordinator and RN educator. "This is wonderful for the more than 12 million cancer survivors in the U.S., but many are left with questions they were unable to express when focused on surviving. It is important for health care professionals to play an active role in answering their question, which is why we're hosting this free conference."
