Auditions announced for Wartburg Community Symphony

Dr. Daniel Kaplunas, conductor, invites community members who play an orchestral instrument to audition to be part of the Wartburg Community Symphony.

"I look forward to meeting community members who play an orchestral instrument," Kaplunas said. "Email or call me with your name, address, and instrument, and I will send you audition excerpts."

Auditions are scheduled for early September in Orchestra Hall on the Wartburg College Campus in Waverly. Each audition lasts five minutes.

Slots for string auditions begin at 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7. On Thursday, September 8, wind instrumentalists audition from 2-2:50 p.m. and brass instrumentalists from 2:50-3:40 p.m. Community members can arrange evening audition times.

The audition is optional for community members who have previously played in the orchestra.

String players are also invited to participate without audition in the Wartburg Chamber Orchestra, a group that rehearses from 3:50 4:40 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.Contact Kaplunas with your name, instrument, and address by phone at 319-352-8370 or email daniel.kaplunas@wartburg.edu.

The Wartburg Community Symphony is dedicated to enhancing the cultural vitality of Northeast Iowa by sharing symphonic music through concerts and educational programming.
