Two scholarships were awarded to students in Grundy County from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa. A total of $180,486 in scholarships was awarded from its funds in 2011.
The Dort & Ron Mastain Education scholarship was awarded to Hannah Miller, Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School. The James "Jim" Zehr Memorial Scholarship Fund was awarded to Shannon McCoy, BCLUW High School.
Each year scholarships are awarded from more than 100 scholarship funds that have been created by generous donors with various charitable goals. Scholarships focus on academic achievement, financial need, and excellence in extra-curricular activities.
2012 scholarship information will be updated on the Community Foundation website at www.cfneia.org in November 2011. Applications and instructions for applying must be retrieved from the Community Foundation website. Students should read the instructions carefully to determine eligibility requirements and guidelines for each scholarship. Deadlines for applying will be announced in January 2012.
