Emily Draffen, daughter of Chris & Margaret Draffen, graduated from Drake University in Des Moines on May 14, 2011. She has earned a BFA degree with a major in Acting, a minor in Musical Theatre and a minor in Writing.
Emily went to work immediately following graduation, acting in four plays at Festival 56 in Princeton, Ill. Her leading roles included Katharina in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," and Lilli/Kate in the Cole Porter musical "Kiss Me, Kate." She also appeared in "Twelve Angry People" and "Annie Get Your Gun."
This September Emily will be performing at Festival 56 in the play "The Guys," by Anne Nelson at the Grace Theatre. On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, this play is based on actual events about a FDNY Captain who, in the weeks following the attack, had to write eulogies for the men he lost, and the writer who helped him through it. This show will run September 8-11. For more information or tickets visit festival56.com.
Emily lives in Chicago, Ill.
