Ackley German band to perform

August 6, 2011
Reinbeck Courier

Spend an evening with family and friends at the Grundy County Courthouse square for an evening of local food, fun, and entertainment!

Bring your lawn chairs and dancing shoes on Thursday, August 4th as the Ackley German Band, sponsored by the Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce, will perform a mix of show tunes, marches and polkas on the Courthouse grounds starting at 5 p.m. The band of almost 20 performers encourages the audience to put on their polka shoes and dance along. Since the band's reorganization in 1992, they have played a concert each year in Pioneer Hall and several other venues at the Iowa State Fair, where the audience dances and joins in the fun.

Green Belt Bank & Trust will be participating in the night by serving buttered and caramel popcorn and a drink free of charge during the entertainment.

Be sure to stroll through the Grundy County Farmers Market to find a variety of produce, baked goods, flowers, and craft items. The Market opens at 4:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m. every Thursday to the end of September.

For more information on future events and activities, please check out the calendar of events at or call the Grundy Center Chamber at 319-825-3838.
