Tallgrass Prairies of Iowa is the third session of a four part series of summer webinars offered by the Iowa Master Gardener program. It will be held on Tuesday, July 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Grundy County Extension office located at 703 F Avenue, Suite 1 in Grundy Center. This series is being co-sponsored by Grundy County Extension and the Grundy County Master Gardeners.
During this session, the history and reach of the Tallgrass Prairie Center located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, will be displayed. The Tallgrass Prairie Center develops research, techniques, education and source identified seed for restoration and preservation of prairie vegetation in rights-of-way and other lands. Daryl Smith, founding director of the Tallgrass Prairie Center and professor of biology and science education at the University of Northern Iowa, is the presenter.
Also, mark your calendars and plan to attend the last in the series "Native Friends and Invading Forces" on August 23. This session will highlight the importance of native species and discuss the problems and related issues with invasive species in Iowa
The public is invited and welcome to attend. There is no registration fee. The registration fee will be covered by the Grundy County Master Gardeners.
