Grundy County, Iowa-Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) recently received a $3,000 grant from the Grundy County Community Foundation through the Dennis and Holly Kruger Family Foundation Fund to help support its local in-home visitation program, Families Together II.
The Families Together program has been supporting Grundy County families since 2006.
Through LSI's in-home visitation program, participating families receive regular visits from an LSI family support worker. The program helps families build strengths in areas of parent-child interaction, healthy development, positive discipline and more. It also focuses on tracking child development and improving access to community resources.
"Helping children get off to a healthy start is critical and important in preventing child abuse," said Nancy Beenblossom, LSI service coordinator. "Our Families Together program helps support parents in achieving the goals they have set for their children and family and making sure they have the support and resources needed to succeed."
The Grundy County Community Foundation and Dennis and Holly Kruger Family Foundation Fund are affiliates of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, established in 1956 to build stronger, healthier communities across Northeast Iowa.
