Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) successfully completed a pesticide hazmat drill on July 28, 2011.
The drill involved members of the Grundy County Fire/EMS, and staff at Monsanto and GCMH. Members of a local Contract Detasseling Crew who work for Monsanto played the role of victims, to test the speed of response, while the hospital used its decontamination shower and facility for a mock chemical hazmat drill.
The goal for this training exercise is to test the communication and cooperation between all organizations, to practice skills, and to test the speed and thoroughness of decontamination procedures.
