Born Louisa Boege on July 29, 1913, in Lincoln, Iowa, she was one of ten children born to Hans and Mary (Barfels) Boege. She graduated from the Reinbeck High School's Class of 1930 and the following year from the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Louisa taught rural schools at Gladbrook-Reinbeck for four years.
On New Year's Day of 1936, she was united in marriage to Emil Hansen at her Parson's home. The couple farmed south of Gladbrook before moving to Toledo to farm in the years of WWII. She took an active role in the family farm, milking several cows and raising her family. Mrs. Hansen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Toledo, the church circle and ladies aid, Farm Bureau of Tama County and Farm Bureau Homemakers. She treasured her family and made sure Sunday's were devoted to family, often having picnics in younger years after church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kenneth Hansen of Toledo, Mary (Ned) Curry of Peekskill, NY, and Dale (Shirley) Hansen of Hartland, Wisc.; ten grandchildren: Terry (Chris), Tina, Tim (Danielle), Ted (Melissa), Tammy (Anthony), Paul, Ryan, Jill, Mike (Marla) and Lee (Sandy); 13 great-grandchildren, her brother Ray (Marlys) Boege of Reinbeck and sister Reva Ladehoff of Conrad as well as many nieces and nephews.
In death, Louisa rejoined her beloved Emil who died in April of 1994, her parents, and siblings Lavera Ramundt, Elvin Boege, Verna Ladehoff, Wilma Claussen, Alta Sindt, Harvey Boege and Ralph Boege.
