February 5, 2011
Reinbeck Courier

High-scoring Rebels

Over the last week of games, the Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls' basketball team has scored 83, 89 and then 107 points.

The Rebels' 3-point firing, mass-substitution style has them third in Iowa high school girls' basketball in scoring at 71.8 points per game.

Lauren Bengen has scored 33 points in back-to-back contests.

Six different players had a 3-point field goal in Tuesday's 107-50 win at Dike-New Hartford. Four players had double-doubles against the Wolverines - Bengen (33 points and 10 rebounds), Jenna Roeding (16 points and 12 rebounds), Paige Thompson (16 points and 10 assists) and Emily Stoakes (12 points and 13 rebounds).

Thompson is one of only five players in the state to have 100 assists for the season.

REINBECK - A 3-pointer by Emily Dinsdale put the Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls' basketball team back on top to stay and the Rebels won their fifth straight, 70-60, over Class 1A No. 9 North Tama on Saturday night.

The Rebels (11-7) were held below 83 points for the first time in their current winning streak, but it was just enough to get past North Tama (16-2).

The Redhawks pulled ahead 57-56 with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter before G-R went on a 14-3 run to end the game sparked by Dinsdale's trey.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck had led 34-29 at the half but saw the lead dwindle to six, 54-48, to start the fourth period.

Addi Kickbush paced the Rebels with 17 points. Lauren Bengen tallied 11 points before fouling out, Dinsdale finished with 10 points, Jenna Roeding had nine and Emily Stoakes eight.

Roeding pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds and Stoakes had nine steals at the back of G-R's press defense.

REINBECK - The Rebels' scoring onslaught continued with a 90-66, NICL West win over BCLUW.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck (10-7, 5-5) won its fourth straight game - scoring at least 83 points in each - to pull even with East Marshall for fourth in the league standings. Lauren Bengen netted 30 points - her third game in a row over 30 or more - to lead the Rebels.

Addi Kickbush had three 3-pointers and 17 points, Emily Dinsdale added 13 points and Jenna Roeding had nine for G-R, which was 11-for-31 from 3-point range.

Courtney Amundson tallied 26 points, five assists and four steals to pace BCLUW (3-12, 0-10), which scored its season-high in the loss. Danielle Montgomery added 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Reeba Box had 10 points for the Comets. Maddie Olson added nine rebounds.
