Free colorectal cancer screenings available

January 29, 2011
Reinbeck Courier

The Allen Digestive Health Center is providing free colorectal cancer screenings for low-income, uninsured or underinsured residents of Iowa age 50-64 who are not on Medicare.

The free colorectal cancer screenings are made possible through an $86,400 grant from the Iowa Get Screened program of the Iowa Department of Public Health. This is the third year that Allen has provided screenings through the program.

For more information, including eligibility qualifications and steps to apply for a screening, call the Allen Digestive Health Center at either of its two locations. To reach the center at Allen Hospital, call 319-235-3823. To reach the center at 125 E. Tower Park Drive, call 319-234-5990.

The Allen Digestive Health Center is partnering with several healthcare providers to offer the free screenings. Information is also available at: People's Community Health Clinic, Waterloo and Clarksville; Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner; Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center; and the American Cancer Society.
