Time - Out

December 24, 2010
With Coach Bailey

The Rebels picked up their first conference win of the year as we defeated the Mustangs of East Marshall by the score of 67-55. The keys to this game were a fast start and good shooting. We were up to game speed immediately in the first quarter and were able to build a 26-16 lead when it came to an end. The Rebels shot 41% from the floor and 73% from the freethrow line for the game. When the ball goes in the basket everything seems to work better!

Emily Dinsdale did a good job on the boards as she finished the evening with 8 rebounds. Jenna Roeding grabbed 7 boards, Addi Kickbush 5, Emily Stoakes and Lauren Bengen 4, Paige Thompson 3, and Erin Wentzien 1. Leading scorer was Lauren Bengen with 15, Emily Dinsdale tallied 14, Jenna Roeding 9, Emily Stoakes 8, Paige Thompson 7, Addi Kickbush 6, Erin Wentzien 5, and Emily Snider 3.

The Rebels offense and defense were clicking from the opening tip as they defeated the Comets by the score of 96-42. The Rebels full court press took a big toll on the Comets as we were able to turn them over 36 times in the game. The Rebels got up 86 shots for the game, 31 more than the Comets. This is a big factor in what we try and do.

Lauren Bengen led all scorers with 25 points, which included 4 three-point baskets. Emily Snider had a career night as she wreaked havoc on the front end of the press by scoring 19. Addi Kickbush was steady again as she finished with 16. Emily Dinsdale finished with 14 as she ran the floor well and got some fast break points. Erin Wentzien scored 11, Jenna Roeding 7, and with 2 each were Paige Thompson and Emily Stoakes. Emily Dinsdale hauled in 8 rebounds for the contest followed by Lauren Bengen with 5. Snidmister led in steals with 5, followed closely by Emily Stoakes with 4.

The Rebels traveled to Wartburg College to play the Union Knights in the NICL Shoot-Out. The Knights are an excellent team who will win a lot of ballgames this year. I cannot tell you how hard your Rebels played tonight, they fought and battled and executed all night. It looked like we had them beat until they hit a three-point basket with one second left in regulation to send the game into overtime. That shot seemed to change the momentum and we were defeated by the score of 77-69. As far as I am concerned the best team did not win this ballgame.

Paige Thompson hit five 3-point baskets on her way to scoring 19 for the game. Emily Stoakes and Lauren Bengen each finished with 12. Jenna Roeding and Addi Kickbush scored 8, Erin Wentzien 6, and Emily Dinsdale 4. Emily Stoakes and Emily Dinsdale pulled down 6 rebounds each, followed closely by Jenna Roeding with 5. Emily Stoakes also had 5 big blocked shots as she shored up the back-end of the Rebel full court press.
