Reinbeck Courier

REINBECK - The new wrestling conglomerate of South Hardin and BCLUW jumped out to a 4-1 start to the dual season after going 2-0 in NICL action Thursday.

The SH-BCLUW Storm edged both West Marshall (43-36) and host GRNT-GC (48-36) to pick up a pair of conference victories.

Four Storm wrestlers went 2-0 in matches on the mat Thursday night as a four-win streak provided by Ryan Lutes at 125, Tyler Lutes at 130, Matt Granzow at 135 and Ben King at 140 did major damage in both meets.

Against West Marshall, both Lutes and Granzow scored wins by fall, while King, rated seventh in Class 2A, was an 11-2 winner by major decision against returning 1A state qualifier Michael Hemesath.

King improved to 5-0 this season with four first-period pins.

Alex Morgan (152) also won by fall while Zach Johnson won an overtime match against Tanner Stalzer at 160.

West Marshall six wins all came by fall from Sam Snelling (103), Tanner Arnold (145), Lee Bryant (171), Freeman Ohrt (189), Esteban Fieros (215) and Lucas Ohrt (285).

Grundy Center's Tyler Lasbrook, who last winter wrestled for the Tri-County contingent, won against his former BCLUW teammates with a first-period pin over Carter King at 145 for GRNT-GC.

Lashbrook placed eighth at state at 135 last winter.

All six GRNT-GC wins came by fall: Alex Bovy (119), Lashbrook, Andrew Winburn (171), Tyler Zook (189), Alex Eichhorn (215) and Eliot Randel (285). The RebelHawks could not overcome four open weights.
