Time out with Coach Bailey

The Girls Basketball team got the new season off on a bang as they defeated Denver by the score of 73-60. All ten players saw playing time in this game as we are implementing a run and pressure system this season. It won't always be pretty, especially early in the season, but it should be exciting basketball to watch!

Three Rebels hit double figures in this game. Paige Thompson tallied 20, Lauren Bengen 18, and Addi Kickbush 14. Jenna Roeding scored 9, Emily Snider 4, Emily Dinsdale 4, Emily Stoakes 2, and Erin Wentzien 2. The Rebels drained 11 three pointers in the game. Jenna led us in rebounding with 7, followed by Emily Stoakes with 5 and Paige Thompson with 4.

West Marshall defeated the Rebels by the score of 70-54. The first quarter doomed the Rebels as we came out un-aggressive and flat. We were down 18-2 when the quarter came to an end. We played them even for the remainder of the game but the damage was done and we could get no closer.

Paige once again led us in scoring with 16 points. Addi Kickbush had 10, Lauren Bengen 8, Emily Dinsdale 7, Jenna Roeding 6, Emily Snider 5, and Emily Stoakes 2. Jenna and Emily Dinsdale had 6 rebounds each, followed by Emily Stoakes and Lauren Bengen with 5 each.

The next evening a very good North Butler team came to town and defeated the Rebels by the score of 57-53. Once again the Rebels started out slow. Mid-way through the second quarter we were down by the score of 30-11. From that point on we out scored them 42-23. Part of the philosophy of the system that we are running is to wear our opponents down and get to them in the second half. We almost accomplished that in this game as we had two possessions to go ahead late in the 4th quarter, but we were not able to finish it. Slow starts in the last two games have just killed us.

Jenna Roeding led us in scoring with 11 points. Lauren Bengen and Emily Dinsdale finished with 9. Addi Kickbush and Paige Thompson had 8, Emily Stoakes 5, Erin Wentzien 2, and Emily Snider 1. Em and Em (Stoakes and Snider) pulled down 6 rebounds each. Emily Stoakes also had 4 assists for the game.
