Junior varsity volleyball ends on high note

October 29, 2010
Julie Frischmeyer

The last match of the season ended on a positive note for the rebels as we beat a very competitive north Tama squad 25-20 and 25-22. Carrie Shouse and Rachel Bown lead the team in kills with 13 and 11 respectively Erin Wentzien had 6, Sid Dilly 5, Callie Kuehl, Kristin Tessau and Taylor Flamme each had 2. Madi Corwin led the defense with 14 digs. Serve receive found leaders in Kristen 20 Madi 18 and Taylor 10. As a team we tallied 12 ace serves with just about everyone contributing to that number. I was very pleased with our performance on night. We saw great hustle and intensity never giving up big runs and serving very well.

I should fill you in with some other matches we have played back tracking for the North Tama game we lost to Grundy 12-25 and 15-25. Not our best match or the season. We beat Denver in a barn burner, quite possibly the longest JV match I have ever been involved in scores were 26-24, 27-29 and 15-13. I was so proud of the way we played that night everyone stepped up when necessary and made plays to win that match. It was amazing.

We ended the season with a match record of 14-10. We had a great season and I really enjoyed working with this group of young ladies, they worked hard all season and continued to improve each and every week. Nice job Rebels!
