WOODWARD - Travis Freese rushed for 133 yards and four touchdowns to help the Rebels (7-2, 5-2) run by Woodward Academy (4-5, 2-5) on Friday night.
A 23-point second quarter by G-R turned the game in the Rebels' favor and they never looked back.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck locked up second place in the final Class 1A District 4 standings, giving G-R a first-round home game in the opening round of playoff action. The Rebels will host Dike-New Hartford Wednesday at 7 p.m. at 'The Pit'.
Freese scored on a 23-yard run in the first quarter and on runs of 3 and 1 in the second quarter. He had a 5-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
The second frame also witnessed a 27-yard scoring hookup between quarterback Parker Bolt and Colby Luethje. The Rebels also added a safety in the stanza.
Bolt was 10-for-20 with 161 yards and a score. Luethje rushed for 50 yards while Logan Petersen made four catches for 63 yards and kicked five successful PATs. Blaine Groth had three catches for 56 yards.
The Rebel defense forced Woodward Academy into minus-30 yards on the ground and just 155 yards of total offense.
