Life chain Sunday in Eldora

October 1, 2010
Reinbeck Courier

National Life Chain Sunday is October 3 and Eldora will again be the site for this event in this area. Life Chain "links" are invited to meet in front of the Hardin County Courthouse. The Life Chain will be in place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

This will be the 19th time a Life Chain has formed in Eldora. The first Life Chain was formed in Yuba City, Calif. with about 2500 participants. This year approximately 1700 chains will be formed around the Unted States and Canada. Iowa has 28 chains scheduled to take place on Life Chain Sunday.

Life Chains are intended to be a peaceful witness reminding people that life is a gift from God and supporting life choices for those facing a problem pregnancy. Adoption is encouraged and also healing for those struggling with a previous abortion decision. Life Chain participants are furnished with a variety of signs with these messages and they will line the sidewalk along Highway 175 for as far as there are supporters.

One year round goal of Life Chain participants is to be helpful to those dealing with various pregnancy issues. In order to provide this assistance, The Lighthouse Center of Hope has been opened as a crsis pregnancy center in Iowa Falls. It is located at 409 Washington Ave.

More information on the Life Chain can be had by contacting David Splett at 641-858-2464.
