y Services and Cardiac Rehabilitation at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) will open on Monday, May 3rd. The opening of the new therapy area marks significant progress for the hospitals ongoing renovation project. These are the first departments to reopen in a new location since construction began in spring of 2009.
Beginning on May 3rd, Therapy Services and Cardiac Rehab will be located in the new Medical Office building on the southwest side of the hospital. The entrance patients will use to get to Therapy Services and Cardiac Rehab beginning May 3rd is the new farthest west door on the south side of GCMH. Once in the building, patients will take a slight right to enter the Therapy Services area. Therapy Services and Cardiac Rehab will share the new Medical Offices building with Iowa Health Physicians and DaVita Dialysis.
"All of us in the Therapy Services and Cardiac Rehabilitation departments are excited to have this new space available May 3rd," states Chris Wiedman, GCMH Manager of Therapy Services and Cardiac Rehab. "These departments have experienced significant growth in the last three years, both in the size of our staff as well as the size of our patient caseload. Our new space will feature larger gym areas, updated rehabilitation equipment and greater space for each therapist/nurse to work with individual patients. Additionally, the Therapy Services area will feature four private rooms rather than the two available in our current facility. We feel these improvements in our physical space will allow us to better serve a wider variety of patients in a more comfortable, private and professional atmosphere."
