Lola L. Hulme, 90 passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer from an extended illness. Visitation was held at Overton Funeral Home in Traer January 1, 2010 from 3 -6 PM. Service was held at Overton Funeral Home on January 2, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Burial was at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer.

Lola L. Hulme was born December 19, 1919 in Jasper County, Linn Grove Township near Lynnville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Cora Swan Van Gorp. Lola was the second oldest of five children and she received her education at Searsboro where she graduated in the class of 1938. In 1939 her family moved to the Bessie Young farm northwest of Traer. Lola worked at Hanson Company in Waterloo before she married Arlo Hulme August 25, 1941 in Missouri. Lola and Arlo made their home farming all their married life on the farm where she continued to live following Arlo's death in 1987. On August 18, 2008 she became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center where her death came early Tuesday morning. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlo, three brothers, Lloyd, Max and Lowell and one sister Loretta (Mrs. John) Mumm and one grandchild Justin. She is survived by two sons, Donald of Denver, IA and Jerry of rural Traer, two daughters; LuMae (Donald) Podhajsky of rural Traer and Judy (Vernon) Zmolek of Traer, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
