"Annie Get Your Gun" was written in 1946 by Irving Berlin and was the very first Broadway show to run for over 1000 performances. The students at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School will be presenting this show twice this week - Friday at 7:00 p.m. and again Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available only at the door. The story centers around Annie Oakley (Hannah Bassett) a backwoods sharpshooter who is "discovered" while trying to sell her freshly hunted birds to a hotel owner (Tessa Dinsdale). She then accepts the challenge of Buffalo Bill's (Steve Ingham) champion shooter, Frank Butler (Caleb Heithoff) to a shooting match. She is immediately smitten with Frank and the story is off and running. Helping to confuse things along the way are Frank's assistant, Dolly Tate, (Angela Wrage), show manager, Charlie Davenport, (Tyler Ingham), Chief Sitting Bull, (Shane Lawton), and Pawnee Bill, (Ian Offner), Dolly's sister, Winnie, (Rebekah Zimmerman), and show performer Tommy (Austin Charley) provide another storyline to be followed. Annie's sisters (Rachael Cheeseman and Sonya Beichley) and little brother (Chase Sieh) as well as townspeople and show workers round out the cast. This classic musical features such great songs as I'll Share It All With You, Anything You Can Do, My Defenses are Down, You Can't Get a Man With a Gun and the most well-known There's No Business Like Show Business.
