Letter to the Editor
I'm writing this letter on behalf of the candidates running for re-election to the Board of Trustees at Hawkeye Community College. Those candidates include Luane Lorenzen of Traer, Dave Krejchi of Cedar Falls, and Bill Gronen and Donna Miller, both of Waterloo. I am also asking for your support as I seek another term as Trustee of the College.
As members of the board, we are honored you have placed your confidence and faith in us. We have made it our responsibility to be well-informed regarding the issues that impact our communities and the operations of the College.
In the 15 years that I have served on the board, Hawkeye Community College has grown in enrollment as well as services and facilities - to better serve our students. Once again, we need to thank you the voters for approving the public measures which have allowed us to move forward as a College. I am truly honored by the trust you have placed in me and my fellow board members.
When you go to the polls on Tuesday, September 8, I would ask you to please vote for the board members listed in this letter. In my opinion, each member has done an outstanding job representing their respective district. When making decisions, they have kept the greater good of the College first in mind. Due to the economy, some of those decisions have been extremely difficult because they have impacted the lives of employees.
Looking toward the future, we know we will be faced with more additional challenges as the result of declining state revenues. If given the opportunity to serve again as members of the Board of Trustees for Hawkeye Community College, we will use the experience and knowledge we have gained to further enhance the quality education our students deserve.
We would appreciate your support in the upcoming election on Tuesday, September 8.
