Laura Winninger of Waterloo and Anthony Paige of Reinbeck were united in marriage on June 20, 1989.
Jane Schildroth Lovell and Dr. Peter Jaynes were united in marriage on July 29, at the home and in the garden of Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Schildroth.
Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Meewes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 17. They were married on Sept. 17, 1938.
Gertrude Behrends, 79 of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Grundy Center, died Sept. 9.
The tenth Annual Pioneer Craft Fair will take place on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Bob & Gary Frahm have sold their welding business in Voorhies to John and Wes McClish of Des Moines. Bob started the business 19 years ago.
Former Reinbecker, Leon Lauterbach, 45, was found murdered at his home in San Diego, CA. No suspects at this time.
Carolyn Mumm and Doug Ballard were united in marriage on Aug. 31.
A close-out farm sale was held by Al Peters Sept. 17.
Elmer Verly died at the age of 68 of a heart attack.
Mr. & Mrs. Phil Ohrt are parents of a son born Sept. 11.
A complete closing-out farm sale is planned at the Jack Buskohl farm on Sept. 14.

John Blohm, Jr. 47, died at his home on Sept. 7. Cause of death was attributed to a heart attack.
Marlys Johannsen purchased the Earl Wyatt property on Randall St. for a reported price of $8,500.
Harold Petersen won a position on the Reinbeck School Board election by a "write-in." Harold received 94 votes. This is the first time a write-in has produced a winner.
Last Sunday, the First Baptist Church had a special service for the dedication of the new church library and the burning of the mortage on the annex.
Cathleen Paulsen and Delayne Hopkins exchanged marriage vows on Sept. 6 at the United Church of Christ.
Jill Wait and Leroy Wood exchanged marriage vows on Sept. 6 at the Amity United Presbyterian Ch.
Graveside services were held Aug. 30 for Roger G. Dinsdale, infant son of Mr. & Mrs. George Dinsdale.
Rev. & Mrs. Donald Martin are the parents of a daughter born Aug. 27.

Conrad Smith, 34, Parkersburg, driving a panel truck near Russell Sindt farm north of Reinbeck, lost control of his vehicle and was killed outright. He was the first death for 1959 in Grundy Co.
Officials broke up a threatened gang fight among youth at Dike, numbering about 70 on Sept. 3rd. Marshall Posekany said, "there's a grudge between kids of Grundy and Black Hawk counties."
Maude Taylor, 78, died Sept. 3 at the Grundy Hospital.
Walter H. Miller of Reinbeck FFA Chapter, showed the champion Hampshire Ram in the FFA Sheep Show at the Iowa State Fair.
Adolph Babinat, 69, farmer near Voorhies, died on Sept. 5.
Linda Larsen and Stanley Stoer were married on Sept. 5th.
Al Collins has purchased a lot in Lincoln from Louis Rehder and will move his house in from the farm.
Mr. & Mrs. Erwin Maas of Gladbrook are parents of a daughter born Sept. 3rd.
Alfred Gloe, 71, died Sept. 6. He was, at one time, manager of the Farmers Elevator in Lincoln.
Reinbeck Community High School have selected their cheerleaders for football: Geri Juhl, Jean Schick, Joan Schick and Georgia Voege.
Mr. & Mrs. Warren Breakenridge of Dindale, are parents of a girl, born Sept. 3rd.
Mr. & Mrs. Donn Lorenzen of Cedar Falls are parents of a son born Sept. 2.

James Frier was placed second in the Berkshire Boar Class of the FFA Division at the Iowa State Fair.
Old Hemp Mill Club and Cafe, 3/4 miles West of Grundy Center, is having its grand opening on Sept 14. (Mid-Equipment now occupies the building.)
Leo Heid of Dike, purchased the Chevy garage in Dike. It was formerly known as the E&H garage.
James Keith of rural Reinbeck won top honors in the Labor Day Tractor Rodeo, sponsored by Everett Frink & Associates.
Reinbeck Rams to start football season Sept. 9th at Tama.
Reinbeck's Labor Day celebration sponsored by the American Legion was well attended and a big success. More than 100 took part in the Toy & Pet Parade.
Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Dake are parents of a daughter born Sept. 1.
Eleanor Strohbehn became the bride of John Sandbach at Amity on Sept. 1.
Harold Fischer of Wellsburg, was named head of Grundy County's American Legion.

Reinbeck Town Council approves plans for structure over the new city well at the rear of city hall. The building will be 12 feet by 10 feet and cost about $275.00.
Herbert Thomsen, 34, died Sept. 6.
Reinbeck School begins the year with 428 pupils enrolled.
Reinbeck Consolidated School District may vote on the matter of having the school buy the books at the next board election. As of now, students have to buy their own books.
Mabel Huntington and Donald Steinbrook were married Sept. 2.
Lester Sternberg sold his 80 acre farm south of Gladbrook to Jay Smith of Los Angeles, CA. for $130 an acre and bought Richard Seimens 55 acres seven miles north of Traer for $8,000.
F.F. Chalupsky of Buckingham purchased a quarter section farm for $96 an acre from Banker's Life Ins. Co. The farm is southwest of Eagle Center.
Coach Al Miller reported that 36 guys turned out for football practice.
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Smith are parents of a son born Sept. 5.
The D-X Station, formerly managed by James Bern, was taken over by E.M. (Skeet) Robinson. Robinson also had the funeral and undertaking service.

Clarence Runft gets fifteen firsts with 16 entries of Chester White Hogs at the Grundy Co. Fair.
Katherine Sternberg was severely burned at her home in Grundy Center on Sept. 9 when a gas heating and lighting plant exploded. The house was damaged about $5,000.
Miss Tobena Saak, 40, died at her home of cancer on Sept. 6.
Ray Hamilton, Conrad, was sentenced to 10 years at Fort Madison for forgery. He passed checks in Reinbeck and Dike. A charge of assault is still pending against him, awaiting the grand jury.
Elmer Rickert resigned his job as tank wagon manager for the Independent Gas & Oil Co. and Ralph Berryman is taking over.
Local football season to start here on Sept. 21 with nine games scheduled with the last one on Nov. 16.
Grundy Co. land has an estimated value of $157.25 an acre. In the last 6 years. Grundy Co. ranks 11th in 48 counties.
Mr. & Mrs. E.P. Bieber mourn the loss of their 7 month old daughter, Ruth, who died on Sept. 12 of pneumonia.
The Reinbeck Pressed Brick Plant closed for the season on Tuesday with another successful season. About 600,000 bricks were made.
