Dear Editor

May 8, 2009
Reinbeck Courier

April is an important month for Girl Scouts because we pause to honor and pay tribute to our thousands of great volunteers during National Volunteers Month. Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois is thankful for all the volunteers who give of their time and hearts to help girls develop lifelong leadership skills.

Your local Girl Scout council is fortunate to have more than 4,500 adult members across 38 counties in Iowa and Illinois. Girl Scouts empowers girls to be leaders by discovering a strong sense of self, connecting with others in an increasingly diverse world and taking action to help make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts exists for girls, but it exists because of volunteers. By giving their time and sharing their skills with other Girl Scouts, they make it possible for girls to become girls of courage, confidence and character. We are pleased and proud to recognize them during April.
