Albert Lee Hein, age 70, of Gladbrook, passed away, Thursday, April 23, 2009, with his family by his side, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, April 27, 2009 at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions to honor Albert may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Cedar Valley Hospice. Albert was born July 4, 1938, in Garwin, Iowa, the son of Claus and Frieda (Engel) Hein. He was raised in the Garwin area, graduating from Garwin High School. On May 26, 1973, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Grooms at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Together they lived on their farm all their married life.
Albert was a member of Peace United Church of Christ where he served on the church board. He was the Tama County Weed Commissioner and a former Gladbrook Jaycees member. Albert enjoyed collecting and restoring John Deere Tractors and scale model horse and buggy teams.
Albert will be missed by his wife Rhonda, daughters Tonia Hein (Jacob Wilkinson), of Portland, OR, Kristi (Justin) Ingamells of Hudson, IA, grandchildren, Kiara, Kason, Morgan, and Parker; brother Don Hein of Gladbrook, sister Esther Corrigan of New Hartford, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Branum.
