Dear Editor:

With the apparent influx of feral cats in Reinbeck, you might want to consider Den Herder Veterinary Hospital's "Neuter A Tom Cat Day" event for outdoor, feral, farm or stray cats. This event will be held on Saturday February 21st.

The purpose of this event is to allow the community to bring in stray tom cats to have them neutered at a low fee. The only cost is a $10 donation to the Cedar Bend Humane Society. A free rabies vaccination will also be included.

Cats can be dropped off at the hospital between 11:00 and 11:30 am and picked up later that afternoon.

A more specific pickup time will be given the day of the event. Cats need to be in their own carriers and no more than 2 cats per carrier. We recommend cats be kept in an indoor facility for 24 hours afterwards if at all possible.

Again, this event is intended for outdoor cats or strays only, not personal house pets.

Den Herder Veterinary Hospital is located at 974 Home Plaza, Waterloo, IA. Please contact them at 319-232-5292 to let them know how many cats you might be bringing in to help them get a better idea for how to plan for the day.

If you miss this event, a few other Waterloo/Cedar Falls vet offices will also be participating at different dates.

You can contact the Cedar Bend Humane Society at 319-232-6887 for more information.

Spay and Neuter... be part of the solution not the problem!
